The honest, no-surprises guide to your free two weeks.

Let's be straight with you. The reason most people never try a CrossFit gym isn't the workouts. It's the not knowing. You don't know what you'll be asked to do, whether you'll be the unfit one at the back, or whether you'll walk in and feel like everyone's watching.
So here's the whole thing laid out. No mystery. This is exactly what your free two-week trial at CrossFit Barnsley actually looks like.
Before you set foot in the gym
You fill in a short form (link at the bottom), and we get in touch to find a time that suits you. Not a sales call. A real conversation to find out where you're at, whether you've trained before or not touched a gym in fifteen years, and any niggles or injuries we should know about.
There's no "get fit first" step. As one of our coaches, Tony, puts it: you don't get fit to start, the same way you don't get in the shower to get clean first. You start where you are. That's the entire point of the trial.
Your first session
You won't be thrown into the deep end. You'll likely start with a quieter session or a one-to-one so a coach can show you the basics properly how to move, not how much to lift. We teach technique before we ever add weight.
Every workout we run has three versions: base, intermediate, and RX (the hardest). You pick the level that fits you that day. Tired, slept badly, managing perimenopause or a dodgy knee? You scale it down and still get a brilliant session. Feeling strong? Push it. Nobody is doing the exact same thing as the person next to them, and nobody's judging which version you're on.
The bit everyone worries about: the other people
Here's what members tell us, over and over, once they've started. The fear of "everyone will be staring at me" evaporates in about one session. You can go for a lift, fail it, and the whole room's reaction is "good effort, go again" not a smirk.
One member who'd trained at four other gyms in the area before settling with us put it simply: it's the best community she'd found, it feels genuinely inclusive, and it's for everybody. Another said the thing that won her over was being able to belly laugh at six in the morning. That's the vibe you're walking into.
What the two weeks are really for
The fortnight gives you time to do the thing that actually matters: come back. One session tells you nothing. Five or six sessions across two weeks tells you whether you look forward to going and almost everyone does.
By the end you'll know the basic movements, you'll recognise faces, and you'll have a coach who already knows your name and what you're working on. You'll also know, honestly, whether this is for you. No pressure either way.
Common worries, answered quickly
"I'm not fit enough." You don't need to be. The trial is built for exactly this. We get you fit; you don't arrive fit.
"I won't know anyone." Neither did anyone else on their first day. Two weeks in, that's not a problem you'll still have.
"I can't commit hours a day." You don't need to. Members with full-on jobs and families come three or four times a week and do brilliantly. Turn up, get a proper session, get on with your day.
Ready? Here's your next step
Tap the link in our bio and fill in the quick trial form. We'll be in touch to get you booked in for your first session. Two weeks, completely free, no card details, no catch.
The worst that happens is you get two weeks of free training and decide it's not for you. The best that happens is you find the thing half our members now call their second home.
